We regret to inform you that the Midnight Sun Recreation Complex Pool will be closed effective immediately, until further notice.

During regular maintenance checks our facilities staff discovered a significant concern with the pool foundation. This requires immediate action to drain the pool and implement a comprehensive assessment of the pool structure. Pending the findings of this assessment, necessary repairs will be actioned.

Our team is working diligently to mitigate further damage, ensure the safety of staff and users and minimize the impact of the closure for user groups and sponsors.

The Director of Parks Recreation and Leisure is reaching out to User Groups and current sponsors to discuss the impacts of the closure on planned events.

The Director of Infrastructure and facilities staff are currently draining the pool and arranging a structural assessment and will provide updates on the progress of the assessment and repairs.

We understand that the pool is a cherished Community amenity, and we are committed to restoring it as quickly as possible while ensuring all safety standards prior to resuming operations.

While we are unable to provide a definitive reopening date, we are committed to provide updates and communication in a timely manner, to keep the community informed.

The Town of Inuvik apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates your patience during this challenging time.

Please direct Inquiries Acting Senior Administrative Officer, Cynthia Pihlaja cynthia.pihlaja@inuvik.ca.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
