PUBLIC NOTICE - OCTOBER 1, 2020 - NEW BLUE BINS
The Town of Inuvik Public Works Department would like to remind all residents that new blue bins have been placed along the majority of the streets throughout the Town.
If there is a new blue bin within close proximity to your residence, please use the new blue bin, as we are no longer picking up garbage from the small residential bins.

Mistakes happen and we want to know when they do. Complete our Missed Garbage Pickup Form to report a missed pickup.
Waste collection services within the Town of Inuvik are administered by Bob's Welding utilizing their automated waste collection services. Waste is collected on a weekly basis throughout the Town and disposed at the Solid Waste Disposal Facility (ISWDF). At present they service a total of 219 dumpsters.
A staple in Inuvik for many years, the dumpsters (blue bins) are collected by side loading vehicles. Therefore, individuals are reminded to:
To ensure the areas in front and on the side of the dumpsters remain clear of snow, debris and parked vehicles to ensure the efficient, safe and timely collection
Please keep the inside of your garbage boxes free from loose debris, as the garbage collectors will only pick up large garbage bags. If you are using one of Inuvik's blue garbage bins, please remember to crush or break down cardboard boxes and use garbage bags when possible to hold waste placed in the bins. Ultimately it is the responsibility of the bin users to keep the area around them free of waste material and garbage.
To ensure pick-up of your garbage, it must be put out by 7:00 a.m. on the day of scheduled pick-up.
In Institutional, Commercial and Industrial zones users may request bin pick-up as proposed, or may share bins with adjoining businesses on a fee share basis. A third option would allow users to store and transport waste to the solid waste landfill at current tipping fee rates. To rent a commercial bin, please complete and return the commercial bin application form.
By ensuring all garbage is placed in the dumpster, residents are demonstrating their care for the environment, while maintaining a healthy and safe community.
Should you have a problem with your garbage collection, please contact the Director of Public Works.
