"As September arrives, we find ourselves transitioning from the long days of summer to the crisp, cool air of autumn. This time of year brings both reflection and anticipation as we look back on the achievements of the past few months and prepare for the exciting developments that lie ahead.
Our community has been bustling with activity, from the progress on the expansion of the Inuvik Airport Runway and the construction of new facilities like the Wellness Center and the Aurora Research Center warehouse, to the ongoing efforts in housing development and infrastructure improvements. These projects are not just building our town—they are strengthening our community and laying the foundation for a prosperous future.
I'm particularly proud of our continued commitment to sustainable development. The construction of the solar farm and the net-zero duplex are just a few examples of how we're leading the way in creating a greener, more sustainable future for Inuvik. These initiatives are not just about reducing our carbon footprint; they are about ensuring that Inuvik remains a vibrant and resilient community for generations to come.
Looking forward, there is much to be excited about. The land sales, the construction of new housing projects by GTC and IRC, and the plans for a new hotel, office tower, and apartment complex all signal a period of growth and opportunity for our town. We are also making significant strides in our efforts to provide essential services, with projects like the new utilidor system and the landfill fencing project enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
As we move into the fall, I encourage everyone to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of our surroundings and the strength of our community. Together, we are building a bright future for Inuvik, and I am confident that the best is yet to come."
Calrence Wood,
Mayor, Town of Inuvik
