Please remember it is your responsibility to keep the area around your garbage cans or garbage boxes free from snow to ensure the garbage collectors have access to it. If they cannot access your bin due to snow drifts, they will NOT pick up your garbage. Please keep the inside of your garbage boxes free from loose debris, as the garbage collectors will only pick up large garbage bags.
If you are using one of Inuvik’s blue garbage bins, please remember to crush or break down cardboard boxes and use garbage bags when possible to hold waste placed in the bins. Remember to keep clear access to the bins by removing snow and do not park vehicles near the bins. It is the responsibility of the bin users to keep the area around them free of waste material and garbage.
Please keep the areas surrounding the utilidors and access to them free of snow and other items so work crews have easy access to them. When ploughing snow in your yards, please use caution around utilidors so they do not get damaged. When piling snow, please do not obstruct the view or flow of traffic on the roadway.
We would like to remind home owners to make sure that their freeze protection (heat tapes, circ. lines and heat loops) for utilidettes are in working order as temperatures are dropping and more people are experiencing freeze-ups in utilidettes.
As always, we’re working hard to make Inuvik a better place for everyone to live and enjoy.
