Recreation is vital to the health of any community. Inuvik residents are fortunate to have many resources available to them and many dedicated people in the community to promote and provide recreation.

The Town of Inuvik Recreation Department works to coordinate the different recreation groups in town as well as to provide special events. The new Midnight Sun Recreation Complex is a great place to skate, curl, play hockey or broomball, host a conference/meeting or arrange a special party. If you are an armchair athlete, there is always something going on to watch!

It must be noted that without the ongoing dedication of many volunteers, many recreational activities would not be possible. You can become more involved in the community by getting involved with one of the many Recreation and Sport Groups either as a participant or as a volunteer.

Leisure Services is an essential part of the community that provides people with diverse opportunities in a recreational setting. As a Recreation Programmer I enjoy providing people with the opportunity to broaden their horizons while at the same time making lifelong friends in the process.

One of the bonuses of being the Recreation Programmer is coming in contact with all of the people involved with programs. Whether these people are residents of Inuvik or tourists simply passing through on vacation their unique skills and experiences enhance the programs for all involved.
